  • The 2020 Consumer Sentinel Network report identified that the top five states for identity theft ranked by the number of reports per population were Kansas, Rhode Island, Illinois, Nevada, and Washington.
  • The Consumer Sentinel Network report also noted that when it comes to fraud and other complaints, the top five states were Nevada, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, and Georgia.

In the U.S alone, losses from identity theft cases reached over $710 billion in 2020. Sadly, losses are forecasted to increase yet again in 2021. In fact, GIACT believes that the 2021 figure will be close to, if not in excess of, $721 billion.
